Middlefield is located in Middlesex County, Connecticut, in the north
eastern part of the United States of America. It was incorporated in
1744. It includes the village of Rockfall.
Of its 13.3 sq miles, over 50% of the town is open space. It has a
population of 4,281. This southern New England town lies along Metacomet
Ridge that stretches from the Long Island Sound to Vermont. It is
centrally located approximately 100 miles between Boston and New York
City.
Recreation areas include Lake Beseck, Black Pond, Powder Ridge Ski
Resort, Wadsworth Falls State Park, Peckham Park, Mattabesett Trail, and
two golf courses. Middlefield is also the home of Lyman's Farm and
Orchards, founded by John Lyman and his wife, Hope, in 1741.
